The weather has been HOT and I’ve been craving milkshakes and smoothies! I’ve always loved smoothie shop smoothies and I enjoyed making them at home. I filled them with a variety of fruits and always added half of a banana. Living a keto lifestyle I still make smoothies and usually use berries as the base. They’re delicious but I was missing the banana flavor. Banana extract is a great way to get that banana flavor you love without the sugar overload. A little goes a long way. You can find banana extract at most grocery stores. Please do not buy imitation banana flavor for this recipe, you may be disappointed. Make sure the bottle says “banana extract”.
Here’s a couple of banana extract brands I use:
- In a blender, combine all ingredients and blend until smooth.
- Top with whipped cream if desired and enjoy immediately.
